SAN FRANCISCO, Ca. (California Catholic Daily) - Fr. John Malloy's blog takes on Most Holy Redeemer parish -- again

An acolyte and lector at San Francisco's Most Holy Redeemer Church was "married" to his homosexual partner last month, bringing to five the number of "persons serving in liturgical functions at MHR who have 'married' persons of the same sex," A Shepherd's Voice, the blog of Salesian Fr. John Malloy reports.

In a Dec. 4 posting, the blog noted, "While Archbishop Niederauer is taking heat for his firm yet charitable stand in defense of marriage, fifth-columnist homosexual activists in the Archdiocese continue to undercut his efforts... The latest is from today's Bay Area Reporter (motto: 'Serving the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Community since 1971')."

Fr. Malloy's blog cited as evidence the "wedding announcements" page of the homosexual-oriented weekly newspaper: "This week's wedding announcements include Ralph Lindsey and Philip Carrizosa... Ralph K. Lindsey Jr. and G. Philip R. Carrizosa were married Saturday, November 1, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. at Terra Gallery on Rincon Hill overlooking downtown San Francisco. More than 75 friends and relatives attended the ceremony, which was officiated by retired Court of Appeal Justice Joanne Parrilli... The ceremony was a mixture of civil and religious elements, reflecting the couple's deep faith. Mr. Lindsey is an active member of Glide Memorial Methodist Church while Mr. Carrizosa is an acolyte and lector at Most Holy Redeemer Parish."

A Shepherd's Voice reported that it checked Most Holy Redeemer's acolyte and lector web pages, "and Mr. Carrizosa does indeed serve in those ministries."

The blog poster added, "It will be good here to remind ourselves of Church rules. From Redemptionis Sacramentum #46: The lay Christian faithful called to give assistance at liturgical celebrations should be well instructed and must be those whose Christian life, morals and fidelity to the Church's Magisterium recommend them."

Most Holy Redeemer, located in San Francisco's Castro District, has repeatedly made news over the years for its homosexual-friendly activities: it is the parish where Archbishop George Niederauer gave Communion to two transvestites dressed as nuns last year (the archbishop later apologized), the parish where the same group of transvestite "nuns" - the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence - once held bingo games to raise money until they were kicked out on orders of the chancery in 2006, and the parish that regularly sends a contingent to each year's San Francisco "gay pride" parade. In fact, the parish is where the so-called "rainbow flag," the banner of the homosexual-rights movement, was invented, according Jesuit Fr. Donal Godfrey, currently director of university ministry at the University of San Francisco.

Fr. Malloy, 86, is the outspoken former pastor of Saints Peter & Paul parish in San Francisco. He currently resides at Salesian High School in Richmond, and publishes the daily blog "A Shepherd's Voice." He continues to provide guidance to Catholics across California with his candid criticism of pro-abortion politicians, theological dissidents and inaccurate reporting on life issues in the secular press.
