WATSONVILLE, Ca. (Catholic Online) - Thieves entered into Saint Patrick's Church twice this week. They stole almost $45,000. A parishioner, Ida Bobeda, told local Press
"I take the whole thing very personally. I was born and raised here. This is my church and whatever happens to my church happens to me. "
However, what the thieves took in addition to the money has these faithful Catholics many members even more concerned.
Ms. Bobeda noted "The thing that hurt me most was when I found they took the Eucharist, because you don't know what they will do with it."
Another Parishioner echoed the serious concern. Joe Farapella noted "Whoever they are, they stole the host, I mean that's God himself they're stealing."
They both expressed the prayers of the entire community when they indicated that they were "leaving it in God's hands."
The Watsonville Police Department found the bar which was apparently used to secure entry to the Church and have dusted it for fingerprints. A full investigation is underway.
