VATICAN CITY (Zenit) - Benedict XVI appointed St. Louis' Archbishop Raymond Burke to both the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts and the Congregation for the Clergy.

Archbishop Burke was among a group of prelates assigned to the dicasteries.

Those assigned to the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts are Cardinals Giovanni Battista Re, prefect of the Congregation for Bishops; Ivan Dias, prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples; LluĂ­s MartĂ­nez Sistach, archbishop of Barcelona, Spain; Oswald Gracias, archbishop of Bombay, India; William Levada, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; and Leonardo Sandri, prefect of the Congregation for Eastern Churches; and Archbishop John Myers of Newark, New Jersey.

Those assigned to the Congregation for the Clergy are Cardinals Polycarp Pengo, archbishop of Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania; Marc Ouellet, archbishop of Quebec; and Jorge Urosa Savino, archbishop of Caracas, Venezuela; Archbishops Tomash Peta of Maria Santissima in Astana, Kazakhstan; and Willem Eijk of Utrecht, Netherlands.
