LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The jihads, known for their brutal punishments, decided the best way to execute the girls was by fire.
According to Daily Mail, the girls were locked in iron cages and burned alive before a crowd of hundreds.
The girls were abducted by the Islamic State and were intended to be used as sex slaves, like so many Yazidi before them, but they fought back in the only way they could.
One witness reported: "The 19 girls were burned to death, while hundreds of people were watching. Nobody could do anything to save them from the brutal punishment."
The Yazidi are a minority in the Middle East and have been among the most persecuted people by the terrorist group.
Their treatment is so horrific, some who are rescued or escape are forever changed.
When settlements are attacked, Yazidi men are murdered, the boys are enlisted for suicide missions, the elderly are slaughtered and the women, along with the young girls, become sex slaves to be sold, traded or shared.
Humanitarian groups believe over 3,000 Yazidi girls and women have been taken as sex slaves since the rise of ISIS and many have since been discovered dead or emotionally and physically broken. Please pray for these survivors, as they are in desperate need of God's love and grace.
