LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Aziz, Syria fell victim to air strikes specifically targeting innocent civilians.
Not only were three hospitals and a school hit, but a convoy of trucks and a refugee shelter just south of Aziz were also hit by missiles.
At least 23 people have been confirmed dead, eight are reportedly missing and up to forty others were wounded.
CNN reported that Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu blamed Russia for the air strikes, adding they shot from the Caspian Sea.
Russia's response to the accusation has yet to be announced.
A Doctors Without Borders spokeswoman admitted the organization believes the missiles were the result of the Syrian government-led coalition - and Syria's government has also remained quiet.Doctors Without Borders' head of mission stated: "This appears to be a deliberate attack on a health structure, and we condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms. The destruction of the hospital leaves the local population of around 40,000 people without access to medical services in an active zone of conflict."
Activists took to the internet to spread a video showcasing one of the damaged hospitals. In the video, three babies cried from their incubators in a ward filled with broken equipment and furniture.
The video has yet to be verified, but is currently believed to be real. Please pray for the safety of those suffering the effects of civil war and the ever-present threat of Muslim extremists in Syria.
