'This is an attack directed at our democracy and at our people as a whole'

A deadly bombing surprised Ankara, Turkey this weekend and though no group has stepped up to claim responsibility for the incident, Turkey's Prime Minister revealed investigation officials have set their sights on ISIS.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Saturday's attack near Ankara's main train station is currently under investigation by Turkish officials.

Davutoglu told NTV, "We investigate Daesh (ISIS) as our No. 1 priority. There (has) been good progress toward identifying a name. That name points to an organization." He recalled Turkey faced with suicide bombers in the past then announced, "This attack will not turn Turkey into a Syria."
Two suicide bombers  killed at least 97 people and have wounded nearly 250. On Monday, Turkey's  semiofficial Anadolu news agency reported that the investigative team has started to collect DNA samples from relatives of suspected ISIS members in an attempt to identify possible suspects.
The blast targeted crowds during a peace rally that was calling to end the renewed conflict between the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the Turkish Government. It shook buildings located nearby and left bodies, flags and protest banners scattered across the ground.
Kurdish forces have long been fighting against ISIS in the northern area of Syria and Iraq. However, recently, the Turkish government has also allowed the US to launch strikes against the jihadists.
"This is an attack on the whole of Turkey. This is an attack directed at our democracy and at our people as a whole," the Prime Minister told NTV.
The attack happened three weeks before Turkish elections and the Prime Minister claims the attack was an attempt to cast a shadow on the event. Davutoglu expressed thoughts of asking party leaders to avoid holding rallies to avoid "provocation" for terrorist moves like this one.
Turkey declared three days of mourning over the bombings but scuffles have broken out between police and those who attempted to reach the scene of the bombing to place red flowers in the area. Authorities were forced to fire tear gas into the air to dissuade the public from entering the scene, which is still under investigation.
An earlier suicide bombing incident in July killed 34 people in the town of Suruc, near the Syrian border. An ISIS member was blamed for the attack but the group never claimed responsibility over the incident.
Turkish forces killed as many as 49 ISIS members via airstrikes this weekend Anadolu reported.
