MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - In the material released by an anti-ISIS activist in Syria was a photo of a man kneeling in a red jumpsuit while a young ISIS fighter points a handgun at his head. Another photograph showed the helpless captive lying and facing down in the dirt as the child mercilessly stands over him.
This is just another addition to ISIS' long series of brutal execution videos where they claim the child soldiers, called the "Cubs of the Caliphate," have carried out killings.
Among the dozens of shootings broadcasted in the 22 minute-long film, was a recording of a young boy grasping a handgun with both hands on the banks of the River Tigris. The boy shot more than two ISIS prisoners dead after they were dragged before him by masked adults.
ISIS' use and manipulation of child soldiers is not doubted. Young boys are introduced into the group from an early age and are given weapons and encouragement to kill. The children are forced to enlist in ISIS training camps.
The "Cubs" are armed with rocket launchers and AK47's, and they pose proudly under ISIS' notorious black flag. ISIS brags about the training academies through its social media networks, and proclaims the children as "martyrs" when they die in suicide attacks - which of course, they are brainwashed into believing is a "great honor."
ISIS released an execution video from inside Palmyra early last month, showing 25 child executioners lined up with government soldiers in a Roman amphitheater, shooting them in the head. The amphitheater has been used previously for an annual festival in the Palmyra and was an internationally popular tourist spot before the Syrian Civil War broke out in 2011.
