Representing himself in court, the ultra-Orthodox Jew stated that he vowed to stop the "abomination" gay pride march before he was even released from prison for the same crime he committed in 2005. Yishai Schlissel explained that he does not recognize any institution and was uncooperative with the process. Investigations found the man distributed homophobic handwritten pamphlets before his release.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - "I do not accept this court's authority. This court is part of the mechanism of evil. I have no interest in cooperating at all. I do not recognize any of the regime's institutions," Schlissel told the court, according to newspaper Haaretz.
He was arrested Thursday amid his knife-wielding act during the annual gay pride parade in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, after stabbing six of the participants with two critically injured and one later dying. Recent reports stated that Schlissel was released two years early from his sanctions, despite convincing accounts that he was likely to commit the same crime he did 10-years-ago. Police are now under fire for doing nothing to stop his homophobic violence.
According to the International Business Times, shortly before he was released three weeks from the attack, the man handed-out pamphlets with handwritten messages against the LGBT.
He wrote:
"It is incumbent upon every Jew to risk beatings or imprisonment and together to stop the desecration for the sanctity of His name. If we refrain from declaring war, they'll feel free to spread this shame all over the world."
Schlissel emphasized that those who took part wanted to "desecrate His holy name" by displaying such "abomination" in the specific city itself. The note reminded of his vow not to allow the "abomination in Israel" before attacking participants in the 2005 gay pride march, where he stabbed three people.
