LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - On November 17, Reza Gul rushed to the scene of a police outpost in the Balabolok district of Farah province after it was reported being attacked.
Act now, please help save fellow Christians from genocide!
There she found her murdered son, picked up his gun, and-joined by her daughter and daughter-in-law-began aiding police in their battle with the militants in a seven-hour long fight that left 25 Taliban dead and five more wounded.
"The Taliban attacked our village and my son's outpost at dawn," she told NBC news. "After seeing my young son's body I picked up his gun and decided to fight off the killers of my son until I die."
In a separate interview with Radio Free Afghanistan she said that she "was so enraged that I took a gun and started firing at them, and I kept throwing hand grenades."
"I was hitting anyone who was coming at us. They were firing and firing at us, we were firing back."
Gul's daughter-in-law, Seema, said that: "The fighting was intensified when we reached the battlefield along with light and heavy weapons. We were committed to fight until the last bullet."
Going head-to-head with up to 400 members of the brutal Taliban terrorist group, the family and police forces eventually drove off the fighters.
"We are proud of the bravery of this family and this is a saga that will be remembered for long by police and residents of Farah province," said the Farah province police chief, General Abdul Razaq Yaqubi.
