Vladimir Putin Calls for Dialogue with Trump

As the United States prepared for the swearing-in of its 47th president, Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a rare televised appeal, voicing both congratulations and a call for peace. Appearing on Russian television, Putin expressed support for Trump's commitment to preventing global conflict, particularly regarding the threat of World War III. "We hear [Trump's] statements on the need to prevent World War III. We undoubtedly welcome such a disposition and congratulate the elected US president," Putin remarked in a session with Russia's Security Council, according to a report by The Sun.
