Caritas Venezuela pide que ayuda humanitaria se trabaje bajo mecanismos apropiados

Caritas Venezuela afirmo que se sumaria a ayuda humanitaria en la crisis que vive el pais "solo si se trabaja con los mecanismos apropiados y bajo los principios de respeto a los derechos humanos y humanitarios".

Caracas (ACI Prensa) - Asi lo confirmo la Junta Directiva de la institucion a traves de un comunicado emitido este 4 de febrero ante la posibilidad del ingreso de ayuda humanitaria a Venezuela, situacion que viene generando muchas expectativas ante las necesidades en materia de alimentacion y salud.

"La actuacion social de la Iglesia siempre se ha regido por los principios de la ayuda humanitaria internacionalmente reconocidos: humanidad, independencia y honestidad en el trabajo de acompanamiento y auxilio a los mas afectados", continua el texto.

Ademas, el comunicado precisa que se le pidio a Caritas de Venezuela aportar su experiencia.

"La Asamblea Nacional ha pedido la entrada de la ayuda humanitaria. Ha solicitado a la Conferencia Episcopal Venezolana (CEV) participar en una comision tecnica. Se le ha pedido a Caritas de Venezuela aportar su experiencia en lo social".

Asimismo, se informa que diversas organizaciones de accion social solicitaron a las autoridades competentes "permitir el ingreso de dicha ayuda", pero aun "no ha habido respuesta".

Por otro lado, Caritas Venezuela recordo que la institucion siempre se "guia por protocolos aceptados internacionalmente para dar respuestas a situaciones de graves crisis", y por tanto, "no atiende a intereses politicos, sino al bien del pueblo mas vulnerable".

"No resuelve los problemas del pais. Solo mitiga los impactos sobre la gente mas pobre: riesgo alto de morir y sufrimiento masivo. La ayuda esta destinada a los mas vulnerables que no tienen medios para afrontar la situacion", precisa el comunicado.

Ademas, anade que su ayuda "es limitada en cobertura y tiempo", por lo que tiene el deber de "ayudar a preparar a la poblacion para valerse por sus propios medios".

Tampoco "abastece los mercados con los diversos productos de la dieta basica".

"Los insumos que llegan son principalmente terapeuticos. La ayuda alimentaria no suele ser de alimentos habituales, sino raciones de emergencia y suplementos para ninos y ancianos con deficit nutricional", afirma.

Finalmente, Caritas Venezuela resalta que su ayuda es "siempre subsidiaria y no sustituye lo que el Estado debe hacer con sus recursos".
