El Papa Francisco nombro hoy como nuevo Obispo de Rio Gallegos (Argentina) a Mons. Jorge Ignacio Garcia Cuerva, hasta ahora Obispo Auxiliar de Lomas de Zamora.

VATICANO (ACI Prensa) - Mons. Garcia Cuerva nacio en Rio Gallegos el 12 de abril de 1968 y fue ordenado sacerdote el 24 de octubre de 1997.
El Prelado es licenciado en Teologia, con especializacion en Historia de la Iglesia, y en Derecho Canonico, por la Pontificia Universidad Catolica Argentina.
Ademas, tiene el titulo de abogado por la Universidad Catolica de Salta.
Actualmente es parroco de la Parroquia Nuestra Señora de la Cava, Vicepresidente de Caritas diocesana, asesor regional de la Pastoral Penitenciaria Carcelaria y Secretario de la Comision de la Pastoral Carcelaria de la Conferencia Episcopal Argentina.
El 20 de noviembre de 2017 fue nombrado Obispo Auxiliar de Lomas de Zamora por el Papa Francisco, y recibio la consagracion episcopal el 3 de marzo de 2018.
