El Papa Francisco nombro como nuevo Nuncio Apostolico en Colombia al Arzobispo argentino Mons. Luis Mariano Montemayor, quiera era hasta ahora Nuncio Apostolico de la Republica Democratica del Congo.

REDACCION CENTRAL (ACI Prensa) - Mons. Montemayor sucede en el cargo a Mons. Ettore Balestrero, que en julio de este ano fue enviado a la Nunciatura Apostolica en la Republica Democratica del Congo.
El nuevo Nuncio en Colombia nacio en Buenos Aires (Argentina), el 16 de marzo de 1956. Tiene 62 anos.
Fue ordenado sacerdote el 15 de noviembre de 1985, incardinandose en la Arquidiocesis de Buenos Aires. Segun informa el sitio web de la Conferencia Episcopal de Colombia (CEC) es doctor en Derecho Canonico.
El Prelado argentino ingreso al servicio diplomatico de la Santa Sede el 1 de julio de 1991. Ha servido en las representaciones pontificias de Etiopia, Brasil, Tailandia y en la Seccion para las Relaciones con los Estados de la Secretaria de Estado del Vaticano.
El 19 de junio de 2008 fue designado Nuncio Apostolico en Senegal y en Cabo Verde; asi como Delegado Apostolico de Mauritania. Recibio la consagracion episcopal como Arzobispo el 6 de agosto de ese mismo ano. En el mes de septiembre fue designado Nuncio Apostolico para Guinea-Bissau.
Fue designado Nuncio Apostolico en la Republica Democratica del Congo el 22 de junio de 2015, cargo en el que sirvio hasta hace algunos meses.
El Vaticano aun no ha informado cuando tomara posesion de su cargo Mons. Montemayor en Colombia.
El nuevo Nuncio en el pais sudamericano habla italiano, frances, ingles y portugues.
