LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Prayers for Queen Elizabeth II have been streaming in after a heartbreaking message hit Twitter.
The following message was posted to Twitter from a fake BBC news account: "BREAKING: Buckingham Palace announces the death of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 90. Circumstances are unknown. More to follow."
The account was quickly brought down but several witnesses believed it was factual information removed from the social media site so the news could be officially reported the following morning.
Queen Elizabeth was absent during the annual Christmas Day church service at Sandringham in Norfolk for the very first time. Prince Philip also missed the service that day for the first time in nearly thirty years.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman announced the Queen was suffering a "heavy cold" but was expected to "participate in the Royal Family Christmas celebrations during the day."

Queen Elizabeth II has fallen ill.
Though ill, Queen Elizabeth delivered her annual Christmas speech via prerecorded message.
Following the fake news of her death, a spokesman from Buckingham Palace announced: "The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh continue to recover from their heavy colds."
Buckingham Palace has yet to comment further on her condition or when she is expected to recover.
In the meantime, please offer a prayer of healing and comfort to the Queen and her citizens.
