LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The breathtaking beauty of Slovenia reveals lands mostly untouched by man.

Slovenia's capital, Ljublijana, is home to only 300,000 people.

It is the European Green Capital for 2016, partially for its recent ban of all motor vehicles from its city center, leaving only pedestrians or those in bicycles.

Most paths in the capital lead you straight to "triple bridge" across the Ljubljanica river.

This laid-back, picturesque city is the thing of dreams.

The Skockjan caves are definitely worth a mention.

Slovenia is home to limestone Skocjan caves and are Europe's largest underground gorge.

The caves have been elevated to a UNESCO World Heritage site and boasts nearly four miles of underground lakes, waterfalls and natural bridges.

Over 60 percent of the beautiful country is covered in forest, where over 80 indigenous trees can be found.

Slovenia boasts one of Europe's highest bear populations, has hundreds of hiking trails and boasts over 80 natural hot springs.

Lake Bled is home to the 11th-century Bled Castle, which clings to the snow-capped cliffs of the Julian Alps.

The Romanesque tower and church located on a rock in the midst of the beautiful emerald-green lake and traditional wooden rowing boats called "pletna" are among the most picturesque landmarks of Europe.

At Bled Lake's edge is the Triglav National Park, home to towering trees, beautiful springs, trails and caves.

Rapids run through the gorges and the natural flow of life blends with nature to create such beauty that many a poet has written of them.

In Brda, the gentle landscape is home to orchards, vineyards and olive groves.

Heritage sites, castles, villas and wine trails are popular, as is the medieval village of Smartno.

Slovenia is not only known for its beauty - its exports, one of which is the Lipizzaner horse, which have been raised on stud farms since 1580, are among the world's greatest.

The white thoroughbred Lipizzaners are known for their "dancing" feet and elegance.

Another popular export is the country's orange wine, which is among the most sought-after bottles of wine on the global market.

Produced with apricot and honey, the beautiful wine makes for a tasty toast in one of Europe's most amazing countries.

Each summer, the Odprta Kuhna, or Open Kitchen, combines 40 of Slovenia's greatest chefs to create an al fresco dining experience.

Only the very best is served by only the best.
