Con referéndum Croacia protege matrimonio entre hombre y mujer

Los croatas han aprobado este domingo en referĂ©ndum con un 66 por ciento de respaldo incluir en su ConstituciĂłn la definiciĂłn de matrimonio como uniĂłn de un hombre y una mujer, aunque varios partidos del paĂs se han expresado en contra de la iniciativa.

ZAGREB (ACI/Europa Press) - Los datos oficiales preliminares difundidos en la noche del domingo ratifican la clara victoria del grupo catĂłlico En Nombre de la Familia, impulsor de la propuesta. La participaciĂłn ha sido de un 37 por ciento.
En Nombre de la Familia reunió más de 740.000 firmas para promover esta iniciativa popular de reforma de la Constitución y obligó asà al Parlamento a aprobar la convocatoria del referéndum a pesar de que los partidos de centro-izquierda que respaldan al Gobierno se han mostrado contrarios a la propuesta.
Sin embargo, el resultado de la consulta no es ninguna sorpresa teniendo en cuenta la incorporación del catolicismo más conservador como elemento de la identidad nacional croata. El 90 por ciento de los 4,4 millones de croatas se declaran católicos.
Con esta reforma, el matrimonio no podrá ser legislado por ley, sino que deberá haber una mayorĂa parlamentaria de dos tercios de la cámara para modificar la ConstituciĂłn.
"Estoy contenta porque, a partir de ahora, ningĂşn gobierno podrá legalizar el matrimonio homosexual", ha explicado la lĂder de En Nombre de la Familia, Zeljka Markic.
Una bailarina, Sanja Grgic, ha argumentado que no está "en contra de los gays", "pero he votado a favor porque pienso que los hijos deberĂan crecer en una familia que tenga una madre y una familia".
Con la reforma, Croacia se asimila a paĂses como Bielorrusia, Polonia, Moldavia, Bulgaria, Montenegro y Serbia, donde tambiĂ©n tiene nivel constitucional la definiciĂłn del matrimonio como uniĂłn de hombre y mujer.
