Secuestran a misionero italiano en Africa

Un grupo de presuntos terroristas musulmanes secuestraron al misionero italiano P. Pier Luigi Maccalli en la noche del 17 al 18 de septiembre en Niger, Africa Occidental.

ROMA (ACI Prensa) - El P. Maccalli pertenece a la Sociedad de las Misiones Africanas (SMA) y trabajaba en la parroquia Bomoanga, en la Arquidiocesis de Niamey.
La mision del SMA esta ubicada a 125 kilometros de Niamey, la capital de Niger, y cerca de la frontera con Burkina Faso.
Segun informo el sitio web del SMA, los secuestradores llegaron a la casa donde viven los misioneros y realizaron disparos al aire.
Robaron la computadora y el telefono celular del P. Maccalli, a quien colocaron en una moto. Luego fueron a saquear una parroquia cercana y la casa de las religiosas del mismo instituto misionero, pero estas lograron escapar.
Los presuntos terroristas islamicos se dirigieron luego a una zona cubierta de vegetacion cerca de la frontera con Burkina Faso.
La agencia vaticana Fides informo que el P. Maccalli habia regresado hacia una semana de un periodo de descanso en Italia.
El sacerdote organizaba actividades de evangelizacion y promocion humana, como capacitaciones para jovenes agricultores y lucha contra la pobreza.
Ademas abordo contrasto practicas relacionadas con las culturas tradicionales, incluida la circuncision y la escision de las niñas, que atrajeron cierta hostilidad y que, segun fuentes locales, habrian motivado el secuestro.
Un sacerdote misionero en Niamey identificado como P. Mauro Armanino dijo a Fides que "desde hace algunos meses, el area ha estado en estado de emergencia debido a la presencia de terroristas de Mali y Burkina Faso".
El P. Armanino indico a la agencia SIR que el ministro de Asuntos Exteriores de Italia, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, esta siguiendo el caso del secuestro del P. Maccalli.
El SMA celebrara una Misa hoy 18 de septiembre para pedir por su pronta liberacion.
