While the latest video prepares residents for war, the island is often hit by powerful storms. It is also susceptible to tsunamis. Residents are hardy and often well educated and prepared, but North Korean missiles are a new threat.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Officials in Guam have released a video advising residents what to do should the island be attacked. Guam, which is a U.S. territory and home to dozens of strategic bombers, is a likely target in the event of war with North Korea.

As the rising specter of North Korea's nuclear power looms across the Pacific, American officials are pondering how to prepare people for the possibility of sudden war. Officials in Guam have released a video which advises residents to take cover if they hear air raid sirens.

Presently, the resident fo Guam are familiar with their sirens because they provide tsunami warnings. Now, they are learning that new blasts on the sirens will alert them to the possibility of a missile attack.

North Korea could target the island with either nuclear or conventional weapons. In all cases, people are advised to seek immediate shelter in concrete structures and to avoid windows and doors. After taking cover, residents are to remain in shelter until the all clear is sounded. In the meantime, they should tune in to news and information on the radio, television, or on their mobile devices.

The video come after North Korea launched their Hwasong-15 missile, which can apparently hit all of the mainland United States.

It is unclear if the video is being produced out of an abundance of caution or if the residents are actually being prepared for war. Guam is considered a significant strategic target because of the fleet of bombers stationed there. The B-1 bombers as well as other aircraft, can reach North Korea and carry out attacks that the North will find difficult to stop. It is believed the North's strategy will be to strike Guam early, if not immediately, in the event of war.

Experts remain optimistic for peace. It is clear that no side wants war, despite the media hype and political hysteria. While North Korea insists it will continue development of its nuclear program, it appears unlikely that either side is anxious to use its weapons.
