Father Chito Suganob was kidnapped in May.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Father Suganob was reportedly seen alive on Sunday, June 25.

"We don't have details of his health. We were just told that he was sighted alive," military spokesman Lt. Col. Jo-Ar Herrera, according to Agence France Presse reports.

Father Suganob and many of his worshippers were captured during a violent raid in the city of Marawi following a failed police raid to capture the local Islamist leader, Isnilon Hapilon. The militants proceeded to burn down several buildings, including Father Suganob's cathedral.

Since the fighting began, most of town's 200,000 people fled and around 400 people have been killed. The Maute group holds about 100 civilian hostages and continues to use them as human shields, ammunition carriers and stretch-barriers against the military, according to the Catholic News Agency.
