LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Little Aidin was stabbed fourteen times then abandoned in a shallow grave, where cattle herder Kachit Krongyut was walking.
She thought it was an animal but realized she was looking at a human foot sticking out of the ground near a eucalyptus tree.
According to Daily Mail, Krongyut stated: "At first I thought someone buried their pets alive, but then I saw a foot.
"I tried to control myself and called for help. The baby was buried with its face facing down."
When she heard small cries, Krongyut sprung into action.
She used her bare hands to tear away the layers of soil and quickly realized he had several stab wounds covering his tiny body. She rushed him to a doctor, who was surprised to discover the soil had pressed into the boy's wounds, stanching the flow of blood.
Aidin was nursed back to health before being sent to an orphanage, where he awaits adoption by a Swedish couple.
Supachai Pathimchart, of the Kaen thong Orphanage responsible for housing Aidin and other orphaned children, reported the boy's adoption was a "very happy" occasion.
Pathimchart stated: "All of the safety checks have been carried out to make sure Aidin goes to a good home. We're very happy that he will be going to a good home and have a comfortable life.
"He survived a very bad experience but he has a lot of character and he's happy with life."
Meanwhile, Mr. and Mrs. Krongyut reported high hopes for Aidin's future.
"He is very lucky, Pornchai Krongyut said. "A few hours later and he might not have survived. We're very happy that he has found a loving home to go to. He will do well in life we're sure."
Aidin's biological mother is believed to be a 42-year-old local. Authorities used footprints and motorbike tracks at the scene of Aidin's would-be grave to track her down.
She was charged with attempted murder and abandoning her child.
