LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Federal Justice Minister Michael Keenan released a statement, in which he said the discovery "has resulted in 3.6 million individual hits of ice being taken off our streets with a street value of $1.26 billion [Australian dollars]."

In total, 1,100 pounds of high-grade liquid meth was recovered from four Hong Kong passport holders.

The four people who were arrested and charged with importing a border-controlled drug were three men, ages 33, fifty-two and 59, and a 52-year-old woman.

According to NBC News, another 4.4 pounds of crystal meth was seized.

Keenan admitted, "This is a very good day for Australia law enforcement."

The criminals will be detained for a month and can face a life sentence if convicted.

Keenan told reporters, "This largest seizure of liquid methylamphetamine to date is the result of organized criminals targeting the lucrative Australian ice market from offshore."

He added that the seizure was one of the largest in Australian history.
