1,800 people have died from the heatwave, so far.

As the heatwave crisis in India continues, reaching a temperature of 48 degrees Celsius, more and more people are subduing to the desperation of cooling down. Unfortunately, six children were not spared, after jumping into the water and miscalculating the dam's depth, leading into their drowning and death. Authorities were able to recover their bodies after three hours of rescue operations.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Local police identified the young boys: Yachamaneni Pratheesh, 13; his 10-year-old brother Pradyumna; twins Juvvadi and Suhith Soumith, 8 years old; Joginapalli Shiva Sai and Danaboina Sai Srijan Reddy, both 14, according to the Daily Mail.

One of their friends, Boinapalli Rohan, decided not to join the swim and was able to alert their families, who then informed authorities about the incident. The tragic event happened earlier this week, according to Police inspector G. Narender from Karimnaga, a city nearby the Lower Manair Dam located the central Indian village of Alugunur.

Joginapalli Shiva Sai was reported to have swam properly but believed to have drowned after a second jump in to save his friends.

Police divers responded as soon as they could, but were unable to save any of the children. Funerals for the six children are set for this coming weekend.

Despite advice from officials to stay indoors and hydrate properly, many Indians continue working amid the blazing heat, due to the need to fulfill everyday necessities, like food.

"Either we have to work, putting our lives under threat, or we go without food. But we stop work when it becomes unbearable," said Narasimha, a farmer from the severely hit Nalgonda district.

Despite the increased number of people who died during the heatwave, many construction workers have opted to work, stating there's no other way they could survive without doing so.

Meteorologists believe the killer heatwave may persist on for several more days.
