We ask you, urgently: don't scroll past this
Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The latest annual study from Pew covers 2013, and shows that religious violence actually declined in 2013 from the six-year high that occurred in the previous year.

The study also revealed that about a quarter of the countries in the world are dealing with high levels of religious hostilities internally, which can be anything from vandalism and desecration of religious sites and texts, to assault and murder.
Two of the countries in the study, China and India, have major populations, which combined with the other nations in the study showed that 5.5 billion people are living in countries that have severe restrictions on religion.

Christians continued to be the ones who were harassed in many countries without a significant Christian majority. This included places like India (where violence from Hindus against Muslims and Christians is increasing), China, and much of the Middle-East.
The study also found that Jews were starting to become harassed more often than in previous years.
