LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - These threats appear to be a desperate act of retaliation and defiance in response to recent comments made by President Barack Obama, who said that the North Korean regime would eventually have to collapse - likely a nod to the unparalleled amount of foreign aid that the hermit kingdom still receives.

North Korea's National Defense Commission (NDC) said that Obama's words irrefutably prove that the U.S. intends to "bring down" North Korea.
"Since the gangster-like U.S. imperialists are blaring that they will 'bring down' the DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea]... the army and people of the DPRK cannot but officially notify the Obama administration of the USA that the DPRK has neither need nor willingness to sit at the negotiating table with the U.S. any longer," a statement from the NDC said.
In January of this year, during a YouTube interview, Obama said that North Korea was "the most isolated, the most sanctioned, the most cut-off nation on Earth." He also said that such "a regime like this" would eventually have to collapse.
Kim Jong Un, the North's so-called supreme leader, retaliated that Pyongyang will not stand by "with rabid dogs barking."
February is a month of love and devotion.
North Korea's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) a state-run paper, printed an article in which the NDC warned that if the U.S. "ignites a war of aggression against the DPRK by conventional forces, it will fight it by conventional forces of its style, if the former unleashes a nuclear war against the latter, it will counter it through its own nuclear strikes."
"And if the former tries to bring down the latter through a cyber warfare, it will react to it with its own preeminent cyber warfare and will thus bring earlier the final ruin of the U.S.," NDC said, also adding the ominous threat that Pyongyang intends "to write the last page of U.S. history."
