LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - On Christmas day, Russia said that "The Interview", a movie which showcases a fictional plot by the CIA to assassinate Kim Jong Un, caused anger in North Korea that was "quite understandable."
Combat corruption with moral education; send a Bible to a child, or another person in need.
They also blasted the U.S., claiming that the White House has failed to offer any proof that shows that North Korea was responsible for the hacking of Sony earlier, or were behind the threats of terrorist acts on movie theaters if the film was released.
Russia's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Alexander Lukashevich, said that President Obama's promises to retaliate were being "counterproductive."
He did say that Russia was fully behind North Korea in its anger over the movie.
"The concept of the movie is so aggressive and scandalous, that the reaction of the North Korea side, and not just it, is quite understandable," he said.
"We perceive the U.S. threats to take revenge and calls on other nations to condemn the Democratic People's Republic of Korea as absolutely counterproductive and dangerous, as they only would add tensions to the already difficult situation on the Korean Peninsula and could lead to further escalation of conflict."
North Korea denies being behind the hacking or threats to Sony, which were orchestrated by a group which call themselves the Guardians of Peace, but they praised the group's actions as a "righteous deed."
Sony was cowed into canceling the release of the film, but widespread outrage from the American people, Hollywood and even President Obama caused them to relent.
Russia and North Korea have had very cold relations since 1991, but diplomatic inroads have been made recently by each country. Russia is inviting Kim to attend the 70th anniversary celebration of the defeat of Nazi Germany in May, though it is unclear if he will attend.
