Why does Obama insist China is our enemy?
FREE Catholic Classes
Who is America's greatest national enemy? What nation is our greatest rival, actively seeking to oppose our every move around the globe? If you listen to the rhetoric, it would appear to be China, yet an examination of the details proves this is a bizarre conclusion perpetuated by the Obama administration.
We ask you, humbly: don't scroll away.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Blasting China for human rights violations, a trade imbalance, and CO2 emissions, Obama would have many Americans thinking that China is the new Evil Empire, a titanic enemy whose every move must be countered.
Yet, an examination of the facts suggests this is just a ploy to maintain a level of fear and misdirection in the public mindset.

China is not the enemy of the United States, but possibly one of our greatest friends. The United States imports about $39 billion in products from China each year. Every home, every business, and virtually every person has something in their possession that was made in China. This trade keeps U.S. prices low. Americans are as addicted as ever to Chinese imports.
The Chinese have no qualms about selling to Americans, for the U.S. market is boosting their economy too. China is now home the world's largest middle class and a lot of that is due to American consumerism driving up wages and living standards in China. Our two nations have no reason to seek conflict.
Human right are another issue. Although critics blast China for its executions and imprisonments, the United States locks up more people per capita than any other nation on earth. Not only do we lock people up, we have a tendency to neglect them and throw away the key. Instead of rehabilitating criminals, we release them back onto the streets where an astounding recidivism rate guarantees law enforcement will remain busy.
Conditions within the prison system are anything but luxurious. While inmates do receive three meals and healthcare, the quality of both is often vastly overestimated in the minds of the American public. If the United States has any advantage over China, it is only that Americans do not jail people for political crimes, although we are quick to jail people for many other, trivial offenses.
When it comes to greenhouse gas emissions, the USA and China are the world's two greatest offenders. China makes no qualms about this, explaining that their economy is simply growing fast, responding to American demands. In spite of this rapid growth, the Chinese government is making pledges to stem and eventually reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
As for the United States, Obama likes to play the role of environmental defender-in-chief, but his own nation is a great culprit. Furthermore, the president is wholly unable to enforce changes because the government and people are often resistant to his will.

When it comes to issues of freedom, Americans aren't faring as well as they think. Most political decisions are now made by corporate interest, and civilians have less and less say in how government is run.
Abortion may not be forced in America, however promiscuity, abortifacient use, and abortion are widely encouraged here.
Americans are falling behind in crucial subjects. The education system is a wreck, infrastructure is crumbling, and drug abuse is rampant.
It would seem that China is not our greatest enemy, but rather we, ourselves pose the greatest threat to America. China is a misdirection. China has no designs on the West, and is content with its own sphere own influence in Asia. It is the USA that is throwing its power about the globe, not China.
It is important that Americans stop fearing the Chinese and start paying attention to their own domestic problems. There is no need to fear China, the enemy is much closer than that.
