CIUDAD DE MeXICO (ACI Prensa) - En un comunicado publicado el 25 de septiembre, el Cardenal Aguiar senalo que Mons. Martinez avila, actualmente vicario general y episcopal de Agentes de Pastoral Ordenados de la Arquidiocesis Primada de Mexico, asumira el cargo el 4 de noviembre de este ano.
Desde esa fecha, dijo el Purpurado, el nuevo rector "colaborara conmigo en el cuidado del mayor tesoro espiritual de Mexico y America: nuestra dulce Madre, Maria de Guadalupe".
Cada ano la Basilica de Guadalupe, que acoge la imagen de la Virgen Maria que se aparecio milagrosamente en la tilma de San Juan Diego en 1531, recibe a mas de 20 millones de peregrinos, superando a otros santuarios marianos como Fatima o Lourdes e incluso a la Ciudad del Vaticano.
Solo el 12 de diciembre, fiesta de la Virgen de Guadalupe, la Basilica recibe a mas de siete millones de personas.
El Arzobispo Primado de Mexico destaco que Mons. Martinez avila, ordenado sacerdote en 1990, tiene "una gran trayectoria ministerial en esta Iglesia que peregrina en la ciudad capital", asi como "un probado amor a la Virgen de Guadalupe".
Mons. Martinez avila sucede en el cargo a Mons. Enrique Glennie Graue, nombrado Vicario General de la Arquidiocesis Primada de Mexico en julio de este ano.
Durante los ultimos meses, en forma interina, asumio como rector del santuario mariano mexicano Mons. Pedro Tapia.
