MADRID (ACI Prensa) - En declaraciones a la cadena de radio COPE, perteneciente a la Conferencia Episcopal, Gil Tamayo comento "el huracan mediatico" desatado en las ultimas semanas a raĂ­z de la carta publicada por el ex nuncio en Estados Unidos, Mons. Carlo Maria Vigano, en la que acusaba al Papa Francisco de encubrir los abusos del ex cardenal Theodore McCarrick, Arzobispo Emerito de Washington.

"En este momento en el que se ven las fallas de la Iglesia, hay quien quiere aprovechar para atacar al Papa, porque hay gente que no ha aceptado nunca la eleccion del Papa Francisco, su mision y su tarea de reforma de la Iglesia, de ponerla en esa nueva evangelizacion y que es, en definitiva, poner en practica el Concilio Vaticano II", explico Gil Tamayo.

En la entrevista a la cadena COPE, el Secretario General de la Conferencia Episcopal Espanola tambien analizo la carta de agosto de 2018 que el Santo Padre dirigio al Pueblo de Dios en el contexto de los ultimos casos de abusos por parte de miembros del clero en Pensilvania.

Gil Tamayo senalo que los abusos en el seno de la Iglesia son "una lacra, un mal hecho que debemos reconocer y por el que debemos pedir perdon. Aunque solo hubiera un caso, ya serĂ­a lo suficientemente grave como para levantar nuestra denuncia, nuestro dolor y sobre todo, nuestra cercanĂ­a las vĂ­ctimas".

Indico que la carta del Papa llama a la corresponsabilidad, ya que la Iglesia es "un cuerpo, y esto afecta a los miembros, a los mas debiles, a los que se les ha tenido en el olvido, a los que no se les ha atendido lo suficiente. Tambien ha habido pecados de omision, de encubrimiento, de pasar de largo".

Asimismo, pidio que se eviten sospechas generalizadas, ya que "la inmensa, la infinita mayorĂ­a de los sacerdotes son gente maravillosa, ejemplar, entregada, y no podemos extender, por la infidelidad de unos cuantos, ese clima de sospecha a unos hombres que estan entregados a su vocacion y al servicio del Pueblo de Dios".
