The White House defends U.S. counterterrorism model in Somalia

President Obama and White House officials are defending the United States' "low-investment, light-footprint approach to counterterrorism." As war and death plague places like Somalia and Yemen every day, President Obama continues to issue airstrikes with drones.

We ask you, humbly: don't scroll away.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - According to The Washington Post, Obama's drones have paid off in some ways. The U.S. drones are responsible for killing several of the Islamist group's leaders, including two of its top planners.

"African Union troops backed by the United States have forced al-Shabab fighters to flee huge swaths of territory," stated a senior administration official.

Take a stand and fight against Christian persecution now!

The recent terrorist attacks in Kenya, that targeted Christians and left hundreds dead, is portrayed by the White House officials as a sign the terrorist groups in the area are facing their demise.

"They are desperate," said the senior administration official, who was authorized to speak to The Washington Post only on the condition of anonymity. "And as much as we hate to think about it, this is what desperate groups do. They try to have smaller teams go out and [conduct] higher-impact operations."

However, this simply shows the limits the U.S. interference has in creating lasting victories.

"Analysts who follow al-Shabab's activities said the recent attacks demonstrate how difficult it is to destroy militant groups in places such as Somalia, where decades of war and famine have created vast, chaotic and largely ungovernable areas," explains The Washington Post.

Since 2011, Obama has periodically authorized airstrikes against senior al-Shabab leaders as they created more ties with al-Qaeda.  "There have been a series of them that have definitely degraded [al-Shabab] in Somalia," said the senior administration official.

These airstrikes were aimed toward those who were speculated as planning attacks against the U.S. However, some administration officials "were skeptical that the group intended to strike U.S. or European targets," according to The Washington Post.

Every time Obama issues a drone strike, he is exciting further war and hatred with the U.S. in the places and people he strikes. The airstrikes don't only kill the targeted person; they explode whole areas, killing families and children.

Obama is the face of the United States. The more airstrikes that are spiked down on them, the more they will continue going after Christians and the U.S.
