LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Islamic State militants operating in Algeria have beheaded a French hostage, using his murder to send a message of intimidation to the French government.
VIDEO LINK BELOW
Herve Gourdel, 55, was beheaded by fighters of the Jund al-Khilifa movement, an Islamic terror organization which has pledged allegiance to the Islamic State. Gourdel was kidnapped just a day after arriving in the country for a hiking trip. However, he was snatched and threatened with beheading if the Allied airstrikes in Iraq and Syria did not stop.
Help save persecuted Christians from genocide, act now!
The video was just under five minutes in length and shows the brutal beheading of Gourdel. Catholic Online has searched in vain to locate the footage but censorship across the web has constrained efforts to bring you the video. We will continue trying to locate the original.
Multiple hostages are held by the Islamic State and their affiliates around the world. A German couple in the Philippines faces beheading on Oct. 10, if the German government does not pay a ransom and withdraw its support from the Allied bombing campaign in the Middle East.
The entire world is at war, and these militants are everywhere, not just in the Middle East. Their activities will only increase as the Allies stage a bombing campaign that will destroy their equipment, but not their ideology, nor their allure.
Gourdel is just another victim among many, with many, many more to come.
Wake up.
