Guilty of Murdering 500,000? Genocide Suspect Arrested in Uganda

This evil man is wanted for masterminding the slaughter of thousands of people in Rwanda in the 1994 genocide.

KAMPALA, Uganda (Catholic Online) - Former Rwanda Deputy Intelligence Chief Idelphonse Nizeyimana, a brutal war criminal who has been on the rune since the mid-nineties, has been arrested.

This evil man is wanted for masterminding the slaughter of thousands of people in Rwanda in the 1994 genocide. His victims included many women, children, priests, elderly people and even beloved African Queen Rosalie Gicanda, who was in her 80s.

Nizeyimana was arrested Tuesday in Uganda after hiding out for years. His arrest came under an indictment which was issued by the Rwanda War Crimes Tribunal. Nizeyimana is charged with genocide, complicity in genocide, and direct and public incitement to commit genocide.

During the course of 100 dark days in 1994 over 500,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus were killed. Reports are that there were a dozen masterminds of the genocide, many are still at large.
