Biden Administration Doubles Down on Same Sex Radicalism

On June 8, the White House released a fact sheet announcing "new actions to protect LGBTQI+ communities," which includes lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and other sexualities and identities. Critics argue that the Biden administration's latest moves signify a doubling down on a radical approach to sexuality and gender. Eric Kniffin, an attorney and fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC), and Natalie Dodson, a policy analyst for the EPPC, expressed their concerns about the administration's actions.

Kniffin and Dodson assert that the fact sheet is part of the administration's broader efforts to advance a radical gender ideology agenda. They criticize the administration for expanding the definition of sex to include gender identity across federal agencies and programs without sufficient evidence or data to support their comprehensive agenda. They argue that the administration's promotion of "affirmative care" can have negative consequences, such as higher rates of depression and suicidal risk among individuals.

Kniffin and Dodson criticize the administration's claim that gender-affirming care leads to better mental health. They argue that there is a lack of long-term studies supporting this claim and that LGBTQI+ youth often present other mental and physical health disorders contributing to suicidality. They recommend referring to an EPPC factsheet on gender-affirming care for more information.

Critics also accuse the Biden administration of curbing parental rights, citing cases where schools allegedly encouraged children to change their gender without parental notification. The EPPC has filed an amicus brief in a case that argues against public school staff meeting secretly with a middle school girl to support her gender transition without informing her parents. Kniffin and Dodson argue that pro-LGBTQI+ advocates oversimplify gender-affirming care as a cure-all, ignoring signs of trauma or other underlying mental health conditions.

Concerns are raised about religious agencies' participation in adoption and foster placement partnerships. LGBT advocates seek to exclude religious agencies that reject same-sex relationships or claims about gender identity from these partnerships. Kniffin and Dodson highlight the potential conflict between proposed rules under the Affordable Care Act and federal religious liberty protections, as well as state laws protecting minors from irreversible gender transition interventions.

The Biden administration's approach to LGBTQ+ policies is radical and lacks sufficient evidence to support its agenda. They express concerns about potential negative impacts on mental health, parental rights, religious liberty, and the promotion of explicit materials in educational settings.
