LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Catholic Online School is excited to present "The Knights Templar," a course on the legendary, medieval order of holy crusaders.
The course is the first of several history courses in the works for Catholic Online School. Until now, Catholic Online School has published only religious content with an emphasis on daily readings, the saints and prayers. However, the long-term vision for Catholic Online School is to provide comprehensive education. Courses on everything from the humanities to the sciences will be added to the school.
The mission of Catholic Online School is, "to Provide a Free World Class Catholic Education for Anyone, Anywhere."
The Knights Templar were selected as a topic because they represent a crossover between the Catholic content of the school and history. They are also the subject of great interest for many people.
The Knights Templar were holy knights who took vows of poverty and chastity. As dedicated, professional warriors, they served with distinction during the Crusades, capable of turning the tide of battle. However, there is much about these knights that people don't know. For example, why did the knights dig deep shafts into the Temple Mount in Jerusalem? What did they find? And what happened to the order once it was disbanded? And why do some people argue there are Templar artifacts in the Americas that pre-date the voyages of Christopher Columbus?
The course comes with a certificate of completion. To earn a certificate of completion, students must complete all 11 video lessons, and pass all quizzes with a satisfactory score. The task is made easier with comprehensive study guides which include the script for each video. The videos are a few minutes in length, but packed with information and curiosities that will satisfy any armchair historian.
Students will be able to view and enroll in the course as soon as it is published. The course should appear in the school no later than June 14.
At the same time, Catholic Online School is preparing for the launch of its Sacrament of Confirmation course, which will aid teachers and students of Confirmation. The course includes 32 courses, taught in accord with the magisterium of the Church. That course will be the largest course published yet on Catholic Online School and is slated for publication before the end of August.
You can check out the school by clicking here.
As always, all courses in the school are free.
