'We need to make sure we have something that's reasonable and still effective.'

In an impressive attempt to help pregnant women, the state of Oklahoma has approved a measure to require all public businesses to hang signs in their restrooms to save unborn children.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Many have called the decision controversial, with some claiming bathrooms should not be used as billboards.

If people recognized life begins at the moment of conception, perhaps the need for signs explaining other options and help would not be necessary.

For too long men and women have claimed unborn children are nothing more than blobs - a fallback millions use as an excuse to murder without conscious.

Now, with the provision to promote life in public places, the state of Oklahoma may see a large shift in frightened or impoverished women seeking abortions.

The State Board of Health will consider the regulation on Tuesday, which states all businesses will be responsible to pay for the signs and post them in their restrooms.

The provision was added to a law passed earlier this year requiring the state of Oklahoma to develop informational materials "for the purpose of achieving an abortion-free society."

If the State Board of Health chooses to sign, businesses will have a time limit of January 2018 to get the signs posted.

Many groups have attempted to cry foul - especially when they realized they would be required to pay for the signs themselves - but the anti-abortion group Oklahomans for Life believe the signs will change women's lives and save children from unnecessary deaths.

Oklahoma State Senator A.K. Griffin said she has considered revising the measure to make it more amenable but refuses to back down.

"I do see how it is going to need to be tempered a tad," she explained. "We need to make sure we have something that's reasonable and still effective."

Under the current measure, the sings would require a link to the Health Department's website and must state: "There are many public and private agencies willing and able to help you carry your child to term and assist you and your child after your child is born, whether you choose to keep your child or to place him or her for adoption.

"The State of Oklahoma strongly urges you to contact them if you are pregnant."
