'This is radical. Because we're saying there isn't this narrow standard of what a beautiful body looks like.'

Mattel finally offers a diverse assortment of dolls that includes three new body types, seven skin tones, 22 eye colors, 24 hairstyles and hundreds of outfits and accessories.

We ask you, humbly: don't scroll away.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - It seems Mattel has finally opened its eyes and has decided to offer "Barbie Fashionistas Dolls," which are sold exclusively at the Mattel Shop.

Gone are the days when young girls are forced to play with silly Barbie dolls that represent physically impossible body proportions. Here are the times when youths can pick up a doll that looks closer to a real person -and perhaps see the beauty previous Barbie dolls never allowed them to see within themselves.

The Barbie page of Mattel's website features the new dolls in a campaign called #TheDollEvolves.

The site reads: "Girls everywhere now have infinitely more ways to play out their stories and spark their imaginations through Barbie. Along with more overall diversity, we proudly add three new body types to our line. Here's a look at why we did this, and the team that made it possible. #TheDollEvolves.

"This is just the beginning. From offering products that feature more empowering and imaginative roles to partnering with best in class role models, we believe in girls and their limitless potential #YouCanBeAnything

"Introducing the 2016 Barbie Fashionistas Dolls. Releasing over time throughout the year, the line includes 4 body types, 7 skin tones, 22 eye colors, 24 hairstyles, and countless on-trend fashions and accessories."

Though the new Fashionistas Dolls have yet to reach Barbie Apps, there is hope for the future.

As TIME explains, "Barbie is more than just a doll...She's been the global symbol of a certain kind of American beauty for generations, with brand recognition that's up there with Mickey Mouse."

Though the change to Barbie's classic design seems like a risk to some, others are immediately reminded of Lammily, the doll known as "your only fashion doll with realistic body proportions," and agree diversity is anything but risky.

Lammily was created by Nickolay Lamm, an artist and researcher who thought dolls should represent realistic proportions and included the ability to bend the doll's wrists and ankles according to the body's natural movements. Another noticeable difference is the shape of Lammily's feet, which keep her firmly planted and are perfect for sneakers and sports shoes.

Meanwhile, Barbie's insufferable high-heel addiction has left her feet frozen in a permanent tip-toe.

As Lammily's popularity spread, one can't help but wonder if Mattel realized what a gold-winning idea she was, prompting them to jump on board to pump out a variety of dolls meant to bury the competition.

Regardless of Mattel's reasons, now that both dolls are available on the market it is clear that the future of the doll industry is taking a dramatic turn from the traditionally cookie-cutter superficial, to empowering messages of beauty discovered in the jungles of diversity.
