LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Forty-seven-year-old Elaine Williams of Cumming, Georgia placed an ad on Craigslist, a website designed to trade, sell, buy, rent and more.
Williams was arrested after posting an advertisement for "guaranteed white" unwanted babies, which could be delivered to her door as a gift for her 14-year-old daughter. After saying the babies could be left in a "baby box," local police posed as potential baby suppliers and contacted Williams. When it was determined she was willing to trade the baby in exchange for drugs or money, Williams was arrested for domestic-unlawful advertisement/inducement for adoption of children.Forsyth County Sheriff's Office's Deputy Epifanio Rodriguez told MailOnline that Williams' daughter, whose name has not been released, is facing the same charges as a minor.
Adopting children who are unverified by the state is a felony in Georgia, and the penalty can be up to ten years in prison.
