LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The Blaze reported Republican Rep. Ron Desantis asking Richards if an infant should be "given nourishment and medical care" if it "survives an abortion attempt," to which Richards responded, "I've never heard of such a circumstance happening."

"I can say at Planned Parenthood, I am aware of no instance ... we don't provide abortions after viability," she added.
After her statement, she was then asked more generally if she thinks that medical care should be provided in case of such a situation. Richards replied, "I want to be responsible for Planned Parenthood and what we do there. Certainly in that situation -which again has never occurred that I know of- a baby born ... that baby should, as the mother should, get appropriate medical care from the physician. And would."
Abortion survivors continue to speak against Planned Parenthood, two of whom appeared before Congress earlier this month to appeal the defunding of the organization.
"Do not tell me these are not children. A heartbeat proves that. So do I," abortion survivor Gianna Jessen told the House Judiciary Committee earlier this month.
Melissa Ohden, another survivor, said, "A bucket of formaldehyde in a utility closet was meant to be my fate after I survived my abortion attempt. I deserved the same equal protection under the law as all of you."
Pro-Life group, Center for Medical Progress, president Holly O'Donnell, who is a former blood and tissue procurement technician, described an instance in which she saw a baby's heart beating after an abortion at a clinic.

"Since the fetus was so intact [my coworker] said, 'This is a really good fetus, and it looks like we can procure a lot from it. We're going to procure a brain.' She takes the scissors and she makes a small incision ... and goes, I would say to maybe a little bit through the mouth, and she was like, 'OK, can you go the rest of the way?'"

The hearings continue with several claims that Planned Parenthood used federal funding inappropriately and sold fetal tissue and organs, which is illegal across the nation.
