Her mother and mother's boyfriend will be tried for her murder on Monday

After months of investigating the case of the toddler found dead on a Boston Harbor shore, a neighbor helped identify her as Bella Neveah Amoroso Bond, which led to the arrest of her mother, 40-year-old Rachel Bond, and her mother's  boyfriend, 35-year-old Michael McCarthy.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - The child, whose forensic computer-generated image spread through America for months, was reportedly killed by McCarthy, who is currently being held without bail and charged with murder, as requested by the prosecutor.

He was charged for 2-year-old Bella's murder and Bond faces a charge of accessory for hiding the child's death. CNN reported the judge set a $1 million bail for Rachel "to ensure her appearance."

"The tragedy of her death is compounded by the fact that her short life ended not by illness or accident, but we believe by an act of violence in the very place where she should have felt safest, in her home," said Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley. He reported that officials have gathered sufficient evidence to determine what happened and would reveal their findings in court.

Massachusetts House Speaker Robert DeLeo said that Bond and McCarthy, who has drug issues, are pointing and blaming each other for the toddler's death.  McCarthy's lawyer said that he would not plead guilty.

Baby Doe finally was identified after Siomy Torres was showed the composite picture by police during an inquiry about her neighbor's daughter. She said that she used to see Bella everyday and hear her from the backside of her apartment.

The toddler's aunt confirmed that the picture looked like her niece, who she hadn't seen for nine months, and her maternal grandmother was shocked to learn that she had become a grandmother. She claimed she hadn't talked to Rachel for 14 years and had no idea she had a granddaughter.

A DCF spokesperson also said  they looked into possible cases of neglect twice, between August and December 2012 and June and September 2013, according to The Daily Mail. Unfortunately neither inquiry saved Bella.

The child's remains were found in June inside a trash bag on the shore, causing millions to grieve the loss of another innocent.
