'The Great Controversy' is a 157-year-old book.

Costing them nothing, Philadelphia residents have received their own copies of "The Great Controversy," a Christian book analyzing the prophetic warnings of the Biblical end of times. The Christian book company was reportedly in ties with another company to print and distribute 10 million copies across North America, unsolicited and free-of-charge.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - People were surprised by the unexpected delivery from Remnant Publications, which aimed to share the wisdom and hope of salvation.

"In a nutshell, the book is really about freedom of conscience. That's really what the book is about. It's a history book, [aside from] the last part of the book, which is prophecy," said Dwight Hall, CEO of Remnant Publications.

"The Great Controversy" is a 378-page, 157-year-old book containing writings by the founder of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Ellen G. White, from as early as 1858. The Blaze reported that the distribution cost the publication company around $1 million.

According to Hall, one-third of the book talks about the reformers, the second-third about the establishment of America and the final-third was on the Biblical end of times, "how it is going to end."

Remnant Publications' website stated that they are in partnership with the Project Restore Group to print and distribute 10 million copies of the book across North America.

The statement from the site reads, "We are convinced that sharing these Great Controversy books with our friends and neighbors, in hospitals, churches, and libraries will give people the information they need - that the controversy between good and evil is about to come to an end, and that they have so much to hope for if they will only believe in and follow Jesus. That is the blessed hope."
