A remarkable and heart-warming story caught the attention of many around the world recently, as the "Humans of New York" project featured another unique glimpse inside the lives of people from New York.

Highlights

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - More than 720,000 likes and 24,000 shares have been received on a short story about a couple who chose not to abort their unborn baby. Since the story's publication with the Humans of New York Facebook page, last week, the story has inspired an enormous reaction from social media users.

The photo featured on the well-known Facebook page showed a man with a little girl. The brief description read: "I was 16 when my girlfriend got pregnant. We went to the abortion clinic on 59th Street. We filled out the papers and everything. Then, right before we were called back, we looked at each other, and said: 'Let's get out of here.'"

It sparked a vast range of emotional reactions from readers who expressed their gratitude to the man for "choosing life." Many chose to share their stories, as well.

Here are just a few of the touching stories that were shared in the comments section of the Facebook post:

"October 16, 2000 will be a day I will never forget. I didn't have the courage to walk out. Evan Alexander would have been 14," wrote a woman named Julie. "It took God a long time to heal my guilt and shame. Praying for you guys and your journey. Looking forward to holding my baby in heaven someday."

"Was in that exact position at 17. However, I was alone at the abortion clinic. Changed my mind at the last minute, and now she is 24 and the best friend I've ever encountered. She looks out for me, very protective of me and she is my biggest cheerleader. Can't imagine what life would have been like without her. My dear, cherish every moment you have with her. I salute you both for taking that decision at such a young age. Bless you!"  - Sharlotte

"I was 16 and pregnant and also went to an abortion clinic. They did an ultrasound and turned the screen away from me. The doctor said I wasn't allowed to see because it might make me change my mind. I started crying, sat up and said "I think I just did, I'm keeping my baby" now my son is almost 9-years-old and I don't know what I'd do without him." - Daf
