Convention on Exorcism now open to Protestant clergy.

The influence of Satan is growing, but the Church is responding to the threat by enlisting Protestant clergy to aid in the battle. A training program in Rome has been opened to representatives of all Christian faiths. The aim is to prepare clergy, including Protestants, how to perform exorcisms.

The Church is now training Protestant clergy to assist in spiritual warfare against Satan.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - According to the Church, demonic possession is on the rise. To meet the growing need for exorcisms, the Church has created an annual convention in Rome for training new exorcists. The convention has run for 14 years. For the first time, it is now open to clergy of other denominations.

About 250 clergy are attending this year's convention, and they include Greek Orthodox, Lutherans, and other Protestants. The broad effort to enlist the clergy of other denominations is evidence of how serious the problem has become.

The Church has blamed the rise of secularism and atheism as causes for the rise in demonic possessions. Over the past century, the world has turned from God with atheism becoming one of the fastest growing trends among people.

This rise in secularism and atheism has also correlated with a rise in Christian persecution. Christians remain the largest religious group in the world, but they are also becoming the most persecuted religious group in the world according to a recent study by the British Foreign Office.

Despite the training of 250 additional exorcists, it is unlikely this number is sufficient to meet demand, which is multiplying.

However, Catholics ought not despair. Let us be reminded that Christ himself while founding the Church promised, the "gates of the underworld can never overpower it." (Matthew 16:18)
