Que la practica del deporte favorezca el desarrollo integral de las personas, es el deseo que el Papa Francisco expreso en su mensaje a los participantes del Seminario sobre Deporte como Herramienta para el Desarrollo Humano, Economico y Social", que se celebrara en Rio de Janeiro (Brasil) el proximo 25 de agosto.

VATICANO (ACI Prensa) - En su mensaje, enviado por medio del Cardenal Pietro Parolin, Secretario de Estado del Vaticano, el Santo Padre anima a todos los participantes "a continuar promoviendo el deporte como ejercicio de practica de la virtud, de modo que sea ayuda y fomento del crecimiento integral de los seres humanos y del desarrollo de las comunidades".
Francisco indico que el deporte "no es tan solo una forma de entretenimiento, sino sobre todo un instrumento para construir una cultura del encuentro, de la fraternidad y de la solidaridad, camino seguro para la construccion de un mundo mas pacifico y justo".
El seminario es una iniciativa de la Fundacion Getulio Vargas junto con la Federacion Internacional de Futbol (FIFA) y el Centro Internacional para el Estudio del Deporte.
Segun aseguran los organizadores en su sitio web (http://www.fgv.br/seminariogestaoesportiva%C3%B9), "inspirado en la Conferencia Deporte y Fe, organizada por el Pontificio Consejo para la Cultura en 2016 en el Vaticano, este Seminario reunira a exponentes del deporte para debatir sobre el papel que puede desempenar en la promocion del desarrollo humano, economico y social".
