LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Jesus' name is so powerful, all must bow before it.

That being said, the darkness at work in Colorado Springs must not like seeing the Son of God's name on Mountain Metro Transit (MMT) benches and buses.

In fact, Jesus' name is so powerful, the Transit company told Pastor Lawson Perdue he can no longer advertise with them if he insists on using Christ's name.

The Gazette reported Mountain Metro's haste in speaking that way to Pastor Perdue, resulting in an investigation by the city attorney's office.

Pastor Perdue, who has been purchasing advertising space with MMT for the past three years, claimed the company told him if Jesus' name was allowed, hate messages would also have to be allowed.

The city immediately launched an investigation and released the following statement:

"The city of Colorado Springs is carefully reviewing the advertising policies of Mountain Metro Transit in light of the advertising my Pastor Lawson Perdue of the Charis Christian Center.

"The city takes First Amendment issues very seriously, and strives to fully comply with Constitutional Law. This commitment requires that advertisements and policies are regularly reviewed for content and legality.

"Mountain Metro Transit recognizes that it acted hastily in asking Pastor Perdue to change his messaging. The city Attorney's office is working diligently to ensure that the advertising policies comply with the law.

"During this review, no action will be taken and Mountain Metro Transit will continue Pastor Perdue's advertisement as they currently appear."

The controversy began when MMT told Pastor Perdue a single person complained about the ads.

The pastor's contract will expire on July 10 and MMT said each of the "Jesus is Lord" advertisements will have to be removed.

MMT said he may choose to purchase advertisement space again but he must refrain from using Jesus' name.

Pastor Perdue said he is still going to renew the contract and will not leave The Savior's name out of a single one.
