LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Two ISIS terrorists approached a Christian house in Mosul, and demanded the mother pay the Jizya tax immediately. The mother agreed to pay, but asked for a minute of privacy as she collected the money because her daughter happened to be showering at the time.
The delay was unacceptable, and the terrorists set a fire to the house with the Christian occupants still inside.
Unfortunately, the fire spread quickly and the 12 year old Christian girl was badly burned. Her mother was able to get her to the hospital where she would soon die from her injuries. But before she died, she had a final wish, "Forgive them."
ISIS has virtually eradicated Christians from the territory they control, committing mass genocide. Even now, more than two year later, hundreds of thousands of Christian have disappeared. A few Christians have remained in Mosul, which before the arrival of ISIS was a massive Christian stronghold dating back to the time of Christ.
Christians who remain in ISIS territory are forced to pay a punishing tax, the Jizya, in order to live in ISIS territory.
The most remarkable thing about this incident is that the young Christian girl asked her mother to forgive ISIS. It echos the words of Christ who said, "Forgive them Father, they know not what they do."
Although this young girl has died for her faith, she also fulfilled it by showing true Christian compassion to her mother and to her enemies. This is what saints are made of. And while we lament the monumental tragedy of her passing, we can take joy in the knowledge that those who die in the love of Christ are spirited directly to His bosom.
