Bl. Elizabeth of the Trinity to be recognized as a saint by Pope Francis on Oct. 16

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Pope Francis will recognize the following five people as saints of the Church.

Bl. Elizabeth of the Trinity, a French Discalced Carmelite nun.
Bl. Manuel Gonzales Garcia, a Spanish bishop known for his dedication to Eucharistic adoration.
Bl. Guillaume-Nicolas-Louis Leclerq, a French, Christian martyr who refused to swear allegiance to the atheistic French government after the Revolution.
Bl. Lodovico Pavoni, the Italian founder of an order of monks.
Bl. Alfonso Maria Fusco, the Italian founder of an order of nuns.

Pope Francis also promoted four cardinal deacons to the rank of cardinal priests. One of the promoted is Cardinal William Levada, who was once the prefect for the Congregation of the Faith. He is now retired.
