'I was really pleased to have caught it on camera as often as these things don't show up the same as when you see them with your own eyes.'

Amateur photographer Trisha Hawke dropped her 9-year-old daughter off at her school in Accrington, Lancashire, when she looked up and saw what appeared to be Jacob's Ladder in the clouds.

Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - According to The Sun, Hawke grabbed her camera and immediately started taking pictures.

Though many cloud shapes take a bit of coercion to understand, Hawke's image clearly shows a play of shadows to create what appears to be a large ladder leading from the brightly-lit heavens to earth.

"I always have my camera with me and usually take pictures every morning after dropping my daughter off at school," Hawke explained. "The way the sun was coming through the clouds on this particular morning was really pretty and would have made a nice photo anyway but then I saw this really strange shape rising up from the skyline.

"It looked just like a set of stairs or steps so my first thought was it looked like a stairway to heaven. I was really pleased to have caught it on camera as often these things don't show up the same as when you see them with your own eyes.

"I'm not sure what made the shape appear like that or how long it was there for but it must have been a little while as I had enough time to get my camera out and take a pictures. I have taken some strange  pictures before as I often see unusual shapes in the sky but I have no idea what this is.

"I'm a big believer in God and I do believe in heaven but I wouldn't like to say what caused the stairway shape to appear."

Hawke explained how everyone sees different images in her photographs, which is what she loves most about photography. "I just like to take them and let people make up their own mind."

Hawke has some of her images on display in an art exhibition but explained how the cloud ladder stood out among the others in her collection.

When she takes pictures, Hawke explained "sometimes these don't appear on the camera like I can see them - sometimes the camera does not see what the eye sees and vice versa."

In reference to another interesting photograph she took of a frightening, Lord Voldermort face in the clouds, Hawke explained "It's fun when you show someone a picture like this and they just see a sunset at first, then you point out the face and they jump back."
