MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - According to statistical data, today's youth are becoming more sexualized. In fact, 70 percent of kids will have sex before graduating high school. Another poll report indicates that church attendance is at the lowest mark in twenty years. Additionally, studies show that current presidential administration is the most anti-Christian administration of the modern era.
However, we should not be shocked. The world is becoming exactly what Jesus said it would, and this should actually give us hopefulness and optimism.
If we remember, God brought the great flood upon earth, because the wickedness of man was boundless.
Every intent, every desire, every thought, was leaning toward evilness. When we see evil and wickedness in the world, we shouldn't throw our hands up in despair.
Before Jesus returns, we are going to witness that evil and wickedness has increased all over the world. Speaking of the last days, Jesus said: "And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold (Matthew 24:12)."
Despite the propagating wickedness and its continuous journey to fill the world, the good news is that the gospel of Jesus Christ will continue saving sinners. "And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18)."
Surely, we will and should be concerned about the increasing immorality in the schools, on television and in politics? We are also sure to stand for what we believe is right. But the gospel will continue to triumph and when the time is right, Jesus will finally rid the world of wickedness.
