Bible found open in Texas tornado debris -- The message it read changed lives forever

Friends and family of a couple who died in the tornado received words of encouragement from the Bible.

A couple in Van, Texas became the only casualties from a tornado that hit their area. After the storm, their neighbors found a Bible near the debris of their home. It was not the Scripture per se that brought them together and encouraged them to go on, but the page open when it was reported found.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - The Bible, owned by the couple, was open to the 1,500th page which contains James 1:2-6 verses.

It reads: "My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance; and let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing."


According to The Blaze, the words from the Holy Scripture provided comfort to the family and friends of David and Brenda Tapley amid the sufferings. It made them feel that God was directly talking to them.

They were thankful for finding the Bible that "spoke" to their hardships directly after the disaster struck and claimed the lives of the couple.

"Thank you Jesus for your message," wrote David's sister, published through Facebook.

Sunday when the tornado hit Van, Texas, taking the lives of the Tapleys. According to the report posted on AOL, the Bible was found Tuesday, as the neighbors search through the debris and encouraged them to have a little more faith, despite the disaster.

Having been dedicated members to the Van United Methodist Church, David and Brenda Tapley were given heartwarming eulogy by their fellow parishioners. They say that the couple had been compassionate and caring; they will be missed.

In the MSNBC news, there were about 26 tornadoes reported on Sunday, leaving 30 percent of Texas City damaged.
