Elvis Summers builds a tiny portable house for 60-year-old homeless woman.

A 60-year-old homeless woman named Smokie was helped by Elvis Summers, a Los Angeles man who noticed Smokie sleeping on a dirt patch in a neighborhood. Summers usually talks to Smokie and occasionally lets her go through the recycle bin just outside his building.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Eventually, Summers came up with an idea to help Smokie further with a noble surprise. He decided he wanted to build a tiny house for Smokie, so she can always be safe and would have a better place to sleep at night.

For five days, Summers exerted efforts to build this tiny abode for Smokie. He believes the $500 in building materials for Smokie's new home is nothing compared to the joy it will bring the old woman.

The creation of the tiny house on wheels was documented by Summers through video. He also captured Smokie's reaction when the surprise house was presented to her. She was happy and grateful for the precious gift that Summers provided or her.

The local LAPD cops are okay with Summers' idea of building the tiny house in their area. Summers added that he had no other place to build the house except in the street outside of his apartment. Authorities expressed their support over Summers' project granted that he will relocate the house to a different area every 72 hours.

After Summers finished Smokie's house, he came up with the best idea to help more homeless people. He has launched a campaign in GoFundMe, with the goal of providing more tiny houses for the homeless. As of Thursday morning, Summers already collected more than $13,000 for his GoFundMe project.

During a recent interview with Smokie, when she and Summers have appeared on a KCAL TV broadcast, she shared how difficult it has been to be homeless for a decade and all the struggles she experienced while she was still living on the streets. She added, while in tears, how grateful she is for Summers' efforts in building and providing a shelter for her and for all those who needed it.

For Summers, one of the worst crimes that happen in this world today is how people treat the homeless. He believes that, we should give hope to those homeless people who are dying on the streets, desperate to get help and wanting to be safe in a shelter through supporting Summers' campaign.
