Pope Francis urges priests to stop giving boring sermons
FREE Catholic Classes
After he ordained 19 priests last Sunday morning, Pope Francis reminded the priesthood of what they are taught to do. The Pontiff urged them to be servants of the flock, rather than managers. Pope Francis made comments on how they should be giving the Word of God to the people --- by feeding them with sincere and deeply felt homilies, rather than spouting boring sermons.

By delivering the Word of God, Pope Francis noted it is not enough just to tell but the priest themselves shall embody the words through their practices in daily lives.
Build good examples, he said, because they will remain empty without actions; "they are ideas that never make it to the heart and they can even do harm rather than good!"
His statements stemmed from the celebration of the "Good Shepherd Sunday" on the same day, in which Jesus Christ was the good shepherd as he offered his life for his "sheep." Emphasizing what Jesus had done, Pope Francis said that they ought to share the same mission: to serve and not to be the one to be served, did not stay at comfort but to seek and save those who are lost.
The Pope also advised the newly-ordained priests to be aware of what they do during Mass celebrations and they shall not rush. Pope Francis emphasized the priests should not refuse anyone who asks of baptism and confession, and they shall stay away from vanity.
